Ulnar nerve: It is possible your father suffers from ulnar nerve entrapment, commonly at the elbow. The so called "funny bone" area in the elbow is an area prone to ulnar injury by compression. Other conditions like B12 deficiency or diabetes may predispose the nerve. Check with his physician for adequate history and physical exam to confirm diagnosis and establish correct treatment.

Ulnar neuropathy: The symptoms are in the distribution of the ulnar nerve on each side. This can be caused by repeatedly leaning on the elbows. If your father doesnt do that at work or home, then check for diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.
