I was one of the lucky ones to experience an omental infarction on my lower left abdomen a few months back. i was just wondering if its possible that my umbilical hernia had anything to do with it?

Only if the omentum was incarcerated in the umbilical hernia during the surgery at that time. If that is the case, the hernia was likely repaired at the same time for preventing future complication. Omental infarction is often seen in incarcerated inguinal, femoral, ventral or umbilical hernia. Take care!
