Positive urine culture does not indicate antibiotic therapy is indicated. I wonder if you were treated empirically because of significant symptoms and if this culture was done for the first time. If not, what were the previous organisms? For bladder infection, we need to know the infection is recurrent or relapsed for the correct approach. You will be treated this time by the antibiogram result.

Enterococcus faecalis is the name of a bacteria that lives in the digestive tract but also can be found in the oral cavity and the vaginal cavity. In other words, you got it from yourself. Sex puts you at a higher risk of getting a UTI because the movement also moves the bacteria around. The sensitivity of the culture tells what is the best antibiotic. The doctor that did the culture will know.
