What does this mean on a dental/tmj x-ray radiology report?..the appearance of the tmjs is consistent with functional remodeling which is generally adaptive and not degenerative or progressive.?

It appears to mean that your TMJ has remodeled due to normal wear and tear, not because of a disease that is progressing. Discuss with your physician, dentist or oral surgeon who ordered the images.

Bone adapts to stress. All adults have a whole new skeletal pattern every 7-8 years. Your report says normal adaptive changes. That said, review your full report with then practitioner that ordered the imaging.
