Insurance for TMJ: Tmj surgery may or may not be paid for by either medical or dental insurance. It's more likely to be covered by medical than dental insurance. Dental insurance usually has a relatively low minimum and won't cover hospitalization. Your TMJ surgeon may need to provide your medical insurance carrier with appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in order for it to be covered. We have had good results.

Depends: Some insurance companies have specific exclusions and/or limited benefits for TMJ treatment and/or surgery. If you require TMJ surgery, your surgeon's office can contact your insurance company and submit supporting documentation for the surgery. Unfortunately, your insurance company has the final say, whether it is a covered benefit or not.

TMJ insurance?: Most often medical insurance. Sometimes dental insurance. You have to explore your written benefits of both areas. Varies widely from company to company, and state to state.
