Good questions....: You will need to see a dentist who can actually examine you in order to give you some accurate answers to your questions. The internet is great for many things and some basic information, but can't replace a personal examination and evaluation.

Could be many items: There are many possible causes and it is best to check with your dentist. Sometimes a person bites on their tongue if there bite position and muscle/joint position are not functioning normally. Check with your dentist for help or a referral to someone who treat TMJ problems.
