It takes longer for secondary syphilis and it is usually accompanied by a rash. Different, non STD related infections, such as mono or CMV will have to be considered, strep throat very common as well.

Secondary syphilis cannot begin sooner than 6 weeks after catching it. Gonorrhea is the only oral STD that sometimes causes sore throat; no other STD is a likely explanation of any of your symptoms. Undoubtedly you had a cold or other virus, not related to any sexual exposure.
