Is taking 3 biopsies standard when performing colposcopy regardless of findings ? even with normal paps and no cell changes but hpv positive not 16/18 ?

Biopsies would be taken of areas that the treating doc considered from their training and experience as suspicious. This would be done regardless of the cited tests. The procedure itself would not be done unless the doctor considered it necessary. If you feel your doc is doing unnecessary testing and procedures find another one you can trust.
