A dental abscess cannot be resolved by antibiotics alone. The cause of the abscess needs to be determined and treated by a dentist. Is the issue periodontal in nature or endodontic? Antibiotics will help control the infection until it is treated. Failure to treat in a timely manner can result in additional bone loss and loss of the tooth.

Absolutely not. Abscess caused by bacterial infection of tooth/teeth and or gums/bones. Antibiotic will limit intensity of infection and spread to other organ systems, but will not cure. When you stop antibiotic, infection will come roaring back. y You need to see a Dentist for treatment or referral to the appropriate dental specialist. And the longer you wait, the more extensive/exepensive the Rx
