A member asked:

I have pcos and had some bleeding outside my normal period, should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

True "PCOS" usually causes irregular or absent ovulation. The bleeding in PCOS patients is irregular, and is from constant estrogen production, which thickens the endometrium, with occasional breakdown of cellular integrity, causing unpredictable bleeding. Ask your GYN physcician about use of low dose oral bcps, which is the normal treatment of PCOS, and will help preserve fertility options.
