No ovulation: Women with PCOS ovulate much less frequently than women without it. The balance between estrogen and progesterone in women with PCOS is off. Prolonged, irregular bleeding with long intervals of no bleeding at all are symptoms consistent with PCOS. Birth control pills can be tried to regulate the cycle.
