I just got diagnosed with a dvt & my doctor sent me home on eliquis 5mg twice a day. is this the correct protocol?

The recommended dose by PDR.net: initial dose: eliquis 10 mg orally 2 times a day for 7 days-maintenance dose: 5 mg orally 2 times a day; by UPTODATE: eliquis 10 mg twice daily for seven days followed by 5 mg twice daily (2.5 mg twice daily for extended treatment beyond six months); however, I do think your current dose 5 mg, twice daily should be suffice (no load dose) if you have distal DVT.
