Happy healthy new year doctors! this is dentist question. am i supposed to use the water pik before or after i brush my teeth? should the water pik be making direct contact with my gums or should it just be close to my gums?

Might as well use before brushing to dislodge any debris that can then be brushed away. Use it close to the gingiva and on about #7 in the setting. Flossing is also recommended.

As you can only reach to clean 2/3 of tooth surfaces, WaterPik gr8 for reaching the last 1/3. As most gum disease starts between teeth, either floss or WaterPik helps prevent gum disease. Set tag medium or slightly above. Place tip into mouth just off the gums, lean Nover sink, turn on go around gums and between teeth. Helps get braces off sooner. NOT a substitute for regular dental care.
