Between 2017 -now (maybe even before) my gfr has ranged from 61-57. all other labs wnl. no protein in urine. normal kidney us. dr not worried. do have some barely noticeable edema in shins but im pretty sedentary. could this be why or kidney disease?

If your gfr has remained stable for 6 or more years, that is a good sign. The edema needs to be evaluated and your doctor should at least test your urine for proteinuria. I would recommend consulting a nephrologist to make sure a treatable issue is not being missed. It is not feasible to provide a more meaningful opinion without examining you, Wish you good health!

From what you describe you do not have any progressive kidney disease. edema can be multifactorial. Wearing suppert socks, avoiding prolonged sitting or standing will help. That is not from kidney disease
