So i have covid and i have lost part of my smell the stuff i can smell is pretty faint. but i cant really taste anything. is that normal? i know you can loose both due to covid but i figured since i can smell some things shouldnt i be able to taste?

COVID infection can ablate smell & taste, sensations with separate neural pathways. Olfactory nerves come directly fr. brain into upper-mid sinus through a bony plate/partition with brain. COVID first concentrates in back of nose, staging here. Some doctors recommend lavage of this region several times per day with a diluted Providine sol. (anti-viral) Netti pot. Only upon advice of a doctor.

There are variable degrees of sensory deficit in different people and last varying periods. Quarantine yourself till you are free of fever for 24 hours, without taking any medication. Wear a mask for five days after that. Take acetaminophen for fever and aches, no more 3 g in a day, no alcohol. 6-10 weeks later get a Covid vaccination. Wish you good health!
