A member asked:

I'm day 7 of covid. i feel 95% better. my smell and taste are back. i did a rapid test it's still pretty positive. can i still transmit covid even though the rapid is faintly positive? how long does it take usually to get a negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

The fact that you are positive does not mean you are going to transmit the infection because the test may actually be detecting a dead rather than a live virus. The prompt response suggest good immunity and in containing the viruses you are less likely to transmit to others. Duration of positivity varies depending on the ability to reduce viral load and sometimes is up to 3 weeks in some people.
