Yes, this is considered a positive result & a speckled nuclear pattern can be seen in various disorders. You don't describe your symptoms. The combination of ANA testing and characteristic symptoms are required in order to diagnose autoimmune disease. A rheumatologist is best qualified to evaluate,advise,treat & follow you. Further appropriate testing will be ordered,I'm sure.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, positive ANA at 1:40 is barely positive and some labs would not even call it positive. You may watch and wait. Wish you good health!
