A wide QRS indicates a delay in conduction from the normal pacemaker in the atrium ( upper chamber) down through the heart's electrical system which causes delay in the contraction of the heart's ventricles( lower chambers). This defect is associated with several dangerous cardiac arrhythmias. If your EKG shows a widened QRS, it's a good idea to consult a cardiologist for evaluation & best advic

Electrical conduction abnormalities in the heart, including right bundle, branch block, left bundle, branch block, and also electrolyte abnormalities can cause widening of the EKG

There are numerous reasons for a wide QRS and they are all abnormalities like arrhythmias- SVT, WPW, medications, electrolyte abnormalities like hyperkalemia, acute MI. These are only a few.
