Does impacted wisdom teeth push the adjacent teeth and cause decay or damage?

The impacted wisdom tooth[3rd molar] leans up against the back side of the 2nd molar causing decay. A food trap develops also leading to additional decay. Have the tooth removed, another problem could develop such as a cyst with swelling.

Wisdom teeth do not have the eruptive force to move the seven teeth mesially to them. Food and bacteria, however, can get lodged between those teeth and your second molars. This can cause decay or damage.
