Sounds like a polyp which would be relatively common. However if it interferes with breathing have it checked by your primary care doc who would be able to examine and further coordinate so that it gets addressed properly.

If this developed over a short period of time (less than 2 weeks) or if it occurred after any form of even minor trauma to your nose you need to be seen right away and should go to the emergency room today! If this is a septal hematoma it can cause significant damage, form a dangerous abscess and result in chronic problems that are permanent. If you've had it for a year, see an ENT specialist.
