I take voltaren 3% for my knee pain. i am reading that it can cause heart and kidney failure that scares me.. rubbing it on your knee once or twice a day can cause this?

Most or all nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) -- ibuprofen, naproxen and others, including diclofenac [Voltaren] increase heart attack risk; and slight kidney risk. Actual risk is very low, one event per thousands of people taking NSAIDs. Voltaren probably is lower risk, because it doesn't result in high blood levels of drug. Probable risk to you is too small to measure or worry about.
