My mom is 86. had broken hip years ago..but on one side her leg under knee, gets swollen as soon as she gets up. had heart, vascular, and kidney drs appt...all say its age with values given water pill. now she's getting water blisters and numb toe?

Your mom has leg edema and numb toes because of combined heart and kidney problem. Leg is more edematous on the side with previous hip surgery due to weakened venous system but she is also at risk for clotting of the deep vein (DVT). If she has not had leg Doppler checked to rule out DVT, it should be done. Limited salt and cautious fluid intake along with diuretic are the only options if no DVT.
