He should be seen by his doctor if he hasn’t already. Fever reducers don’t get rid of the cause for the fever; they just temporarily bring it down for the patient’s comfort. Viruses can certainly last this long in children, so there may not be other treatment needed, but he should be examined and evaluated to be sure. Also, be sure he is drinking enough fluid to be urinating.
