A member asked:

F 66 years. kidney ultrasound report says 2.5 cm stone in lower calyx and hyperechoic central tissue. kidney slightly enlarged. what does hyperechoic central tissue mean? what is the percentage risk of malignancy? i read hypoechoic is the risky one?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hyperechoic can be due to manythings beside malignancy and ultrasound is not definitive of that. To resolve the issue you may need a Uro -Ct scan. Pl do not read the garbage on the 'net for you will worry unnecessarily. always ask your doc for explanation. Good luck.
