A member asked:

Husband is 42 mitral valve regurgitation, no symptoms, (echo) normal exercise stress test and ekg. the doctor said leak is severe but everything else ok. he is now taking losartan to lessen the force of blood on the veins. can he have sudden death??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

There is not a high risk of sudden cardiac death, however severe mitral regurgitation should be treated by valve repair/replacement for long term outcomes. Wish you and your husband good health!
