BP and valve leak: Often the frequency of extra beats is related to some degree of valve leak and/or high blood pressure. A BP measurement , taken sitting and standing, an EKG and an echocardiogram can clarify what type of premature beats are occurring, and whether a valve leak or high blood pressure are causing the irregular heartbeat. A cardiologist might best be consulted for the evaluation and treatment.
