How do you know if you are a slow metabolizer of blood pressure meds? is there a test my cardiologist should order to check the cytochromes that are used to metabolize these drugs? i experience bad side effects from every med, mostly mental effects?

I think the old fashioned trial of meds is the only way to determine your tolerance of a medication. In my experience people who complain of side effects from multiple medications have predisposed themselves to experience side effects because of significant symptoms of side effects in their past history. Many current antihypertensive meds like ARBs and calcium channel blockers r well tolerated.
