A member asked:

For person with htn and chronic kidney disease stage 2, what should the blood pressure level be? my blood pressure goes into stage 1 or even stage 2 sometimes when the meds begin to wear off but cardiologist thinks the numbers are "fine"?

A generally accepted normal BP is 120/80 or close to it at all times. I do not know what you mean by 'stage1 and 2' Your BP should be controlled around the clock by the med/meds. If not they have to be adjusted. If your cardiologist feels 'the numbers are fine' they must be. If any doubt ask her/ him to explain. Wish you well.

In general, your blood pressure should be less than 130/80 at your age if you only have hypertensive kidney disease and your heart function (ejection fraction) is normal. If ejection fraction is low or if you have high albumin in urine, systolic pressure should be less than 120.
