Hi i have an elevated ast (sgot) at 36.1u/l. the reference range for the lab i used is below 35 u/l. but another lab i have seen has a reference range up to 40 u/l. so am i out of range or not ? and is it something to be concerned about ? thank you?

Such a barely abnormal result usually is meaningless. But discuss with your doctor if you remain concerned or uncertain.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, the trivial elevation is not a cause for concern. Avoid intake of alcohol. Wish you good health!
