A member asked:

I have gingivitis and i kissed an unknown girl deep in the mouth, if she had hiv, is there a chance i got infected?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

HIV is a blood to blood contact transmission. If your gums bleed on contact and she also has bleeding gums than there is a risk in being infected. Just plain kissing will not cause infection because the HIV virus doesn't survive in saliva. Be careful who you choose as a partner in future and practice safe sex always.
