No : Albuterol is typically used to treat symptoms of asthma including cough, wheeze, chest tightness and shortness of breath. The nice aspect of symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) is that the formoterol component which is a long-acting bronchodilator also starts working very quickly (within a few minutes) just like albuterol. With that, most people don't need to use albuterol right after symbicort (budesonide and formoterol)!
