A member asked:

Monocytes have been high over the past year (12.2%, 15.3%, 15.8%) so my doctor wants to repeat in 3 months with a manual differentiation. why would he prefer manual over automated? less accurate?

Checking blood smear manually by a pathologist is more accurate than automated reading and it's used for confirmation and pathologist may detect abnormal monocytes. With those repeatedly high results by automated readings, you definitely have monocytosis.
