58 yo female. early 2021 found a 4.4 cm mixed cystology benign nodule tsh 2.35 and t4 1.0. nodule now solid and 4.8 cm. tsh 1.8 and free t4 0.9 exhibiting many symptoms of hypothyroidism. due to changes should thyroid be removed?

Your thyroid function is fine. TSH and T4 vary a lot between tests. Total or subtotal thyroidectomy is done for hyperthyroidism (increased thyroid function) not hypothyroidism (low function). Did you make a typo " exhibiting many symptoms of HYPOthyroidism". You stated the nodule is benign so I assume you already underwent biopsy of that nodule.

Removal will cause permanent hypothyroidism and your life will depend on being able to get it. Discuss with local team.
