Do angiotensin receptor blockers reduce the amount of salt and therefore water that your body absorbs (via osmosis)? how do they affect blood volume? do er physicians administer them in patients with hypertensive crisis?

ARB drug does not affect salt and water in your body by way of absorption or excretion. It is a long acting medication with delayed onset so we do not often use in hypertensive crisis but it can be used as a maintenance therapy when the crisis is under control and patient is sent home.

ARB meds work by relaxing your veins and arteriesIt is the diureics which affect blood volume . Yes ER docs use them if needed.
