If the finger turns pale or blue when it hurts, and becomes cool to the touch, you may have Raynaud's syndrome (google it for more information). Often it is triggered by cold temperatures. Most cases are not serious and don't need treatment, but Raynaud's can be serious or can sometimes be due to other health problems.
