Best thing to do after a first degree burn is to put ice on it, to cool it down and to stop further thermal damage to the tissue. Keep ice over it for as long as you can. You can take aspirin or advil or alleve or ibuprofen as anti-inflammatories and to help with the pain. If the skin is disrupted, silvadene ointment can help prevent jnfection. Keep the wound clean.
