A member asked:

A concern: does choledocholithiasis that has been treated within 3 weeks of the first onset of symptoms (sudden, sharp abdominal pain and jaundice) cause secondary biliary cirrhosis?

2 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

It would take chronic biliary obstruction to cause chronic liver disease such as biliary cirrhosis. In the short term, serious infection is a more likely complication.

The duration of obstruction was too short to cause biliary cirrhosis. Abstain from any alcohol intake. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Wish you good health!
