If first time it is acute if more that one episode likely chronic. Were stone removed or did they pass on their own.

Since gallstones grow so slowly, an acute episode of jaundice due to choledocholithiasis means that chronic cholelithiasis (the presence of gallstones itself) is present. I know this is confusing, but it is true because of the nature of the slow growth of the stones. Good luck.
