A member asked:

Can gastroparesis be detected by endoscopy ? gi doctor says i have slow motility could that be due to diverticulosis or hiatal hernia? my son took his life 3 yrs ago because of gastroparesis. that is why i ask about the endoscopy?

Yes. But generally ither tests are also done like scintigraphy, ultra sound or breath analysis to confirm diagnosus. Diverticulosis is small out-pockets in the large intestine. Hiatal hernia is when the stomach pushes into the chest cavity thru a weak area and these are different from gastropareses. Sorry about your loss. There are treatments for it. Good luck
