My doctor saw i had a hiatal hernia in the upper gi x-ray and i have really bad gerd symptoms but he refuses to prescribe me any medication without doing an endoscopy. i really dont want to get that test done- what meds do you recommend?

There are several over the counter medications that help GERD. These were once prescription only but proved safe enough to eventually go over the counter. Only the more severe GERD symptoms that have never responded to a 3-month trial of available OTC drugs and diet change ever need prescription meds.
