I'm having pain on left side of upper back and chest, im not in a lot of pain but it feels like gasses pain. no other symptoms. pain is intermittent. what can this be?

It may be gas pain like you think; but the location on the left side raise the probability of it coming from a heart disease. You may want to have a comprehensive evaluation by a medical provider especially if there is family history of heart diseas at a young age, if you smoke, have high blood pressure or diabetes mellitus.
