This is actually one theory to explain why a certain percentage of patients relapse after treatment with Paxlovid. Its clear that antiviral treatments, which are relatively new in medicine, do not follow the same pathway to a cure that we are used to seeing with antibacterial (antibiotic) treatments. I believe the jury is still out on this question. We have much to learn.
