Have a chest X-rays done to make sure your lungs are fine and take cough syrup, especially at night for cough suppression. Symbicort inhaler may or may not be effective for acute or subacute bronchitis. A short course (5-7 days) of oral antibiotic and steroid should be considered, especially your cough is productive.

The usual effective dose is 2 puffs twice a day which I recommend for you. This cough, if non productive& hacking, may be an asthma equivalent. Even though you don't describe wheezing, you may be also helped by a daily bronchodilator inhaler like Serevent. If not improved, consult a pulmonologist. A chest X-Ray or ct scan, pulmonary function testing may be ordered.
