A member asked:

Only chanced steroid inhalers from clenil to symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) and x4 in the mornings and evenings when should i see signs of improvement as still having problems sleeping at night what could i do till then?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Steroid inhalers: Steroid or steroid/long-acting bronchodilator combination inhalers for asthma do not take effect quickly, and are not used for immediate relief in asthma exacerbations. If an inhaled bronchodilator such as salbutamol (albuterol) used as-needed is not working well enough and Symbicort (budesonide and formoterol) or similar has not taken effect, oral steroids are sometimes given. This needs to be assessed by the prescribing doc.
