A member asked:

Can there be a delay in lipase levels from gastroenteritis, for example, i just had gastroenteritis and now a few days after my lipase is at 600?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, why was the test done? If you do not have abdominal pain, you may watch and wait and repeat the test in 2-3 weeks. Wish you good health!
