A member asked:

Was traveling about 1 month ago. as i went into the airport restroom, i noticed drop of blood (not mine) on my shoes. grabbed a wet wipe, wiped it off and threw it away. i washed my hands even though it didnt touch my skin. could i possibly get hiv?

No, it's highly unlikely that you would contract HIV from that type of exposure, since you did not even touch the blood.

No, HIV transmission is not possible in above described scenario. Check cdc.gov for reliable information regarding HIV transmission.

Agree with Drs. K and P. You are at no risk of HIV from this incident. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Get HPV vaccine. Wish you good health! Safe sex: https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/safer-sex-guidelines
