Very unlikely: Hepatitis c and HIV are seldom transmitted among family members living together for many years. I would not be concerned. Do try to be careful.

Breaks in the skin?: If you contact blood that is not directly from body, but sits on a surface and penetrates your skin, you are susceptible to one virus of concern, hepatitis b. Hepatitis c and HIV must be directly transferred from a viable blood sample, which could be a syringe or cut to cut , body fluid contact. If it does not penetrate open skin, infection is unlikely.
