In the last 4 years, i received approx. 135 msv of radiation, due to spine, liver & kidney problems. im a 77 y.o. male. what level of risk is this? should i avoid more cts if an ultrasound will do?

BY UCSF website: "With exposure to around 100 mSv in a year, there's an increased chance of developing cancer. About 5% of people who receive 1,000 mSv of radiation in their lifetime could develop a fatal cancer later in life". Base on these info and the allowed amount of radiation exposure for people work with radiation in the US, 50 mSv/year, you are safe. US exam as an alternative is preferred

on an average about 100mSev is recommended. discuss this with the MD ordering radiologic procedures and weigh thwe harm/benfit ratioo of need for one. Also low dose procedures are now available.
