Some burning after urination & occasional flank pain 6+wks ago. ultrasound revealed 5mm kidney stone. no urinary symptoms since. considering radiation exposure is a ct scan necessary in your opinion?

Spiral ct for kidney: stones is not a terrible procedure radiation is more than an xray but gives good info. ultrasounds are not as diagnostic

No: If you are no longer having symptoms and your urinalysis is normal, then I think you already have the information you need. Sometimes a stone is not identified on an ultrasound, and persistent pain or blood in the urine needs to be investigated. Then a CT would be helpful. I am assuming that your ultrasound otherwise revealed normal kidneys, etc.
