A recurrent episode of Bell' s palsy is uncommon but definitely can occur even without a family history of it. I wouldn't obsess about this though. I have seen a fair amount of cases through many years of practice, but never a recurrence.

The vast majority of Bell's Palsy cases fully recover, and a recurrence is very rare. (In my lengthy practice history, I have never encountered this other than underlying disease, such as sarcoidosis.) You may benefit from intervention to help you cope better. Consider cognitive-behavioral therapy, and/or biofeedback therapy.
